Some sites track the moves. Other sites track the stats. This tracker creates a comprehensive look at how schools get better or worse by using the transfer portal. Its focus is on players who have made D1 portal moves, and their available box score data. The tracker does not account for a school's returning players, incoming freshmen, or junior college transfers.
Teams who rank highest are reflecting the most improvement. It's possible for a team to land one of the best players in the portal and still rank low. Other portal moves and quality of players lost can still bring before & after ratings down.
How it works
-Every player in the portal with available box score statistics is rated on offense and defense.
-As players move out of rosters and into new ones, they establish before & after baselines for their new school.
-The tracker records the net difference across all commonly tracked stats and produces a composite portal score for each school.
Because scouting grades are subjective assessments and do not reflect data from actual games, rankings based upon them will look very different from what's shown here. Other portal rankings may be based entirely on those types of grades instead of by the objective in-game data found here.
